The community of Auburn Bay is located in Calgary’s southeast quadrant on the southeastern edge of the city. It is bounded by Seton Boulevard to the south, Deerfoot Trail to the west, 52 Street to the east, and Stoney Trail to the north. The access to main routes is one of the best selling points for Auburn Bay.

Calgary Transit’s future Green Line is set to run along the community’s eastern boundary. South Health Campus Hospital is located across the street from the community. Though the area is still relatively new, it has made tremendous progress over the past few years.

In 2020, Auburn Bay ranked 80th overall as the best neighbourhood in Calgary. In 2019, it had a population of approximately 17,600 in approximately 6000 dwellings.  According to the 2016 Census, 62% of households had children at home. The majority of residents were between the ages of 30-34.

The pathways, parks, and gathering spaces are designed to bring the community together. Enjoy a cottage lifestyle where you can visit and celebrate with friendly neighbours. The residents are warm and welcoming, something that is typically reserved for cottage country but you can get it in Calgary.

The community offers a wide variety of styles, price-ranges, builders, and layouts. Everything you need is in Auburn Bay. Home styles include condos, townhomes, laned, and front drive homes. Currently, the community is still building condos and townhomes by Brookfield Residential and Logel Homes. This neighbourhood has something for residents in all stages of life and various amenities located throughout.

The Lake

The focal point of the community is the 43-acre freshwater lake. The lake provides year-round fun for residents and their friends. Summer activities include swimming, sailing, scuba diving, and fishing. Winter activities include ice skating and ice fishing. The four-season vacation style leisure is for residents and their family and friends to enjoy!

There are various ways to get moving in the community as well. Pathways surrounding the lake are great for walking, running, or biking.

Auburn House

The house is the heart of the community. The 14,000 sq ft professionally managed facility is located on the community's private 13-acre park and offers a place to gather with family and fellow residents. The resident’s association is a volunteer based organization that provides residents with events and activities to meet others in the community. They represent the community with all levels of government, education, and police.

The year-round maintenance throughout the community is aimed to increase the community spirit. Think of the house as an unofficial activity planner.

In addition to the lake, the Auburn House offers indoor ice skating rinks, a splash park, tennis courts, and a large indoor gymnasium.

Residents of Auburn Bay and non-residents are able to rent the facility for weddings, birthday parties, corporate events, and more! The association also holds events throughout the year – especially around the holidays.

A few Drop-in programs and summer camps are also offered by the association.

Auburn Bay school is a public kindergarten-grade four school and Prince of Peace school is a Catholic that serves kindergarten-grade nine. The community is also home to a future Catholic elementary school and public junior high. The current schools and future schools are another reason young families find the community so desirable. Children won’t need to leave Auburn Bay to go to school!

Outdoor Spaces

Lovers of the outdoors are sure to love Auburn Bay. There are cycling and walking trails throughout the community along with two large soccer fields and two baseball fields. Your four-legged friends will also love the community because of the large off-leash dog park right at the entrance of Auburn Bay.

There are fifteen playgrounds located throughout which makes this neighbourhood ideal for families with small children.

Several ponds and green spaces provide the perfect area to sit and relax or have an outdoor gathering with friends.

Auburn Station

The options for retail therapy are endless near the community. Auburn Station is home to Auburn Bay Dental, Auburn Bay Veterinary Clinic, and Eye Live Optometry Clinic. In addition to these businesses, there are restaurants, grocery stores, and a gas station.

XO Ice Cream and Waffles is a popular spot for southern Calgarians to grab a delicious ice cream sundae topped with fresh fluffy waffles.

Blackbird Public Urban Bar is a local pub that the community calls home. It was designed to create an authentic and warm atmosphere. Staff provide patrons with a warm welcome and a friendly experience as soon as they enter.

A hair salon and nail spa are part of Auburn Station as well. Pamper yourself without having to stray too far from home.

Seton District and Mahogany Village are also nearby providing everyone with all they could need for home decor, entertainment, fitness, and more. Head to Seton District to visit the Cineplex theatre to catch the latest blockbuster or join in on a class at OrangeTheory Fitness

Mahogany Village is home to The Bro’kin Yolk which has become one of Calgary’s hottest breakfast and brunch spots. There you will also find popular restaurants for various tastes, a grocery store, banks, and more.

Having a car and living in Auburn Bay is a must. It is difficult to get around without one!  As mentioned early, the C-train’s Green Line is set to run through the community. In the meantime, one bus route serves Auburn Bay – the 406 and it only operates on weekdays.

Auburn Bay is a south Calgary community with tons of potential. The small-town beach aesthetic sets it apart from other neighbourhoods in the city. It provides residents with the feeling of a cottage getaway but is still close to the busyness of city life. The neighbourhood has grown exponentially over the past few years and will continue to be a beautiful area families call home.
