Haysboro is a neighbourhood located in the South West quadrant of Calgary. It is conveniently located near Macleod Trail, Heritage Drive, and Southland Drive. The community was established back in 1958.
The neighbourhood ranked 37 in Avenue Magazine’s Best Neighbourhoods in Calgary 2020. In 2019 it ranked much higher at 13th overall. The community also received 123 restaurant points and 61 transit points. Haysboro has a walking score of 52.
In 2018, the population was 7,080. In 2016, 74% of Haysboro residents were between the ages of 15-64. 49% of residents were empty-nesters. Although almost half the residents don’t have children at home, the area is a great place for young families to plant their roots.
The close proximity to main routes, transit, and amenities make Haysboro an engaging neighbourhood in the city! It’s the perfect location. Close enough to the city centre without being in the heart of all the action of downtown.
Detached homes in Haysboro are quite affordable compared to other single-family homes in Calgary. There are also tons of reasonably priced condos for sale in the area for buyers looking for smaller and more affordable options. Macleod Trail runs North to South and Heritage Drive provides drivers with easy access East to West roadways. Haybsoro is around eight kms away from downtown, this makes it desirable for those who commute to work everyday.

It’s easy for residents to get around using public transportation in Haysboro. Calgary Transit has a pretty heavy presence in the area. The bus route 37 serves the neighbourhood. The Southland and Heritage C-train stations are easily accessible as well.
The Haysboro Community Association is a volunteer organization that aims to constructively shape the Haysboro community and neighbourhood. Their vision is to foster a safe and vibrant community that the residents will benefit from.
The association offers a preschool program as well as tai chi programs. The building also has rooms available for rent. It is a great place to host parties, banquets, or larger group events. There are smaller rooms available for small groups.
There is also a resource group for seniors through the Haysboro Community Association. The program is focused on providing seniors in the neighbourhood with targeted events. The Snow & Lawn Care Program is an affordable program for seniors in Haysboro. The seniors pay a flat fee and youth within the community shovel snow for them.
There are two public tennis courts available for use. The courts are surrounded by the community park. The open field and playgrounds are a great place to bring the family in the warmer months. With all the friendly neighbours, why not get together for a game?
The Glenmore reservoir is to the west of Haysboro which is great for a nature lover or runners.

The community is served by Akiva Academy, Haysboro Elementary and Woodman Junior High public schools, as well the charter STEM Innovation Academy and Our Lady of the Rockies High School. There is also a Spanish immersion school in the community – Eugene Coste elementary.
Heritage Park Historical Village is a short drive away from Haysboro. It provides visitors with an immersive glimpse into life from the 1860s through the 1930s. This is a popular destination for families with young ones. It is seasonally open from late May through mid-October.
Heritage Town Square does not require admission! It includes the Selkirk full-service restaurant, an old-fashioned soda shop, and the railway cafe. There is also a greenspace for people to gather.
The Rockyview General Hospital is a short drive away from Haysboro.
